BEIJING (AP) — The International Monetary Fund warns a sharp downturn in Europe could cut China's economic growth by nearly half. The IMF says Beijing should be ready to launch a multibillion-dollar stimulus to avoid a relative slump in the world's second-largest economy.
NEW YORK (AP) — Looking to take on Netflix, Verizon Communications says it will start a video streaming service later this year in cooperation with Redbox and its DVD rental kiosks. The move adds another twist in Verizon's quest to become a force in home entertainment, and looks set to compete to some extent with the cable-TV services it already sells.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Scientists for the Food and Drug Administration say an Amgen drug slowed the spread of cancer to the bone in men with hard-to-treat prostate cancer. At the same time, the drug did not extend life and carries significant side effects.
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — Toymaker Hasbro reports its fourth-quarter profit fell 1 percent. It was hurt by softer-than-expected demand in the U.S. and Canada and slow sales of games and puzzles.
